A one-off building to articulate and preside over the entire urban renewal of a strategic central sector of Berga — a renewal intended to facilitate the revitalization of the town’s historic centre and at the same time provide a satisfactory logistic support for the optimum staging of the annual Patum festivities. Tradition and modernity have to create a time and a space of coexistence. Old neighbourhood and 19th- century eixample, avenue and ditch, patumaires and tourists, all of them should find a point of dialogue in the new building that emerges from and is formalized by way of a careful refashioning of the Plaça de Sant Pere square, the irreplaceable setting of the Patum, making it an interior space of the public space and an exterior space of the town. The square becomes a house, the home of the Patum… if anyone has a home….
