Rowing infrasctructure for the 1992 Olympic Games
A control tower and tiered seating for 500 spectators for the new rowing canal constructed on the flood plain of the river Llobregat for the 1992 Olympic Games. The project is articulated by the paving, which starts beside the canal, continues round the edge of the terrain forming the stands and rises up to the rear of this, in the shelter of which are the serving spaces. The whole space is thus oriented toward the canal, giving it a sense of interiority in the midst of a flat, open landscape. The stand culminates in a small single-storey longitudinal building that contains the offices and the bar and has an accessible roof terrace covered by a large metal canopy. At one end of the paving, above the finish line, there rises the vertical black landmark of the control tower.
